They will be proud to display their own artwork, postcards from a trip to the zoo, a museum or a holiday, a collage with images from magazines and family snapshots.

For this fun project you will need:

  • 2 x 14cm square pieces of white or coloured card*
  • 1 x 14cm by 18cm oval shape piece of white or coloured card*
  • 1 colour plastic straw cut to 17cm length
  • A 45cm piece of string
  • A 60cm (or longer) piece of string
  • 3 paper clips

*The cards can also have irregular shapes to make the mobile more original.

To assemble the mobile:

  1. Attach one end of the 45cm string to a paper clip and secure it with a knot. Pass the other end through the straw and attach it to the second paper clip with a knot. Affix the two square cards to the two paper clips.

Our animal mobiles in Mexico!

Some of our animal hanging mobiles have found their way to Mexico through the British charity ‘New Life Mexico’. This amazing charity helps to rehabilitate abused and neglected children in Mexico. Below is a quote from the field director, Philippa Vernon-Powell:

“Just a quick line to let you know that we used your mobiles as the centre of a talk for our kids club “Chidongongos”. The talk was about jungle animals both in the tropics and Africa. The kids loved the mobiles. Thank you once again for sending them to us.”

Have a look at their website http://www.newlifemexico.com/ and see what they are doing to improve the quality of life of many disadvantaged children.

…still raining, no problem!

When you have a string of rainy days, it can be a challenge to keep one's kids occupied. I am great believer in getting the kids to create and to make things. You only need paper, pencils, scissors, colouring pens, glue and a bit of imagination to start creating great projects from dinosaur cards to flying machines.
