Kids will love making their own hanging mobiles with simple materials found at home.
They will be proud to display their own artwork, postcards from a trip to the zoo, a museum or a holiday, a collage with images from magazines and family snapshots.
For this fun project you will need:
- 2 x 14cm square pieces of white or coloured card*
- 1 x 14cm by 18cm oval shape piece of white or coloured card*
- 1 colour plastic straw cut to 17cm length
- A 45cm piece of string
- A 60cm (or longer) piece of string
- 3 paper clips
*The cards can also have irregular shapes to make the mobile more original.
To assemble the mobile:
- Attach one end of the 45cm string to a paper clip and secure it with a knot. Pass the other end through the straw and attach it to the second paper clip with a knot. Affix the two square cards to the two paper clips.
- Attach one end of the longer piece of string with a knot to the third paper clip and affix the oval card to it. Use the photograph above as a guide to position the oval card and secure the string with a knot in the middle of the straw.
The hanging mobile is ready!
Children will enjoy making this highly creative and easy to put together activity. It will make a unique gift to surprise friends and family.
