Hi, I’m Monica. I am a graphic designer specialised in books with a great interest in children’s books. A few years ago I published my first interactive animal book for young children called Take a Peep at wild Africa, see image below. It has great illustrations by Esther Tyson. I’m happy to say that the book was very well received and very few copies are left. The positive feedback made me think of creating other titles for older children, but with a twist. The twist, in this case being that the children can lift out the animals depicted in the books and create their own hanging mobiles. At present, I have created two book-kits: Africa and Tropical Rainforest. The feedback has been very positive and encouraging to the point that I am in the process of writing and illustrating the next two titles.
I conceived these mobiles book-kits to stimulate and entertain kids. When my children were at primary school age I found it very important – and not always easy – to encourage them to read books and to be involved in creative activities away from TV and computer games, especially during the holidays (and rainy days). The amount of learning that took place during these fun and exciting activities was awesome!
I also hope to share with these
books my love for animals and
my concern about their future.
